Branchfood is happy to announce that Food Edge, our annual conference, is taking place digitally on October 21-23, 2020. The food industry is experiencing unprecedented change. Now more than ever, it is essential for entrepreneurs, leaders, and researchers to understand the latest disruptions in the food industry and be innovative.
Food Edge brings together the industry’s largest brands, disruptive startups, and leading researchers to discuss the future of food. This year, we’re going digital, providing entrepreneurs and investors with key industry insights and actionable takeaways to help them adapt and succeed in the new normal. In line with our mission to catalyze innovation and provide valuable resources and connections to food entrepreneurs and investors, we’re hosting 3 tracks: Emerging Startups, Industry Trends, and Food Investment. Each half-day track includes industry panels/curated webinars and networking sessions, and is optimized to minimize regular workflow and drive maximum engagement and value to our attendees.
Just like in the previous years, we are inviting more than 20 leaders in the field to shed light on those transformations, reveal the latest trends and breakthrough technologies, and share their perspective on where they believe the industry is heading specifically in terms of agriculture, supply chain, retail, and consumption. Some of our speakers include Isha Datar, Executive Director of New Harvest; Adam Behrens, Co-Founder & CEO of Mori; Michele Fite, Chief Commercial Officer & Strategic Planning of Motif FoodWorks; Seth Goldman, Founder of Eat the Change; Jackie Suggitt, Director of Stakeholder Engagement at ReFED; Nick McCoy, Co-Founder of Whipstitch Capital; and more.

Originally an in-person road show around North America, the Pinky Promise Tour is now virtual — and global — and with a solution that can not only help heal our climate and prevent species extinction, but can help heal 3 of the main risk factors for COVID-19 mortality (hypertension, diabetes and heart disease) and help prevent future zoonotic diseases. Our second annual VegFest is organized by a team of dynamic volunteers from the nonprofit organization Michiana VegFest, Inc. This will be a large event open to the public, free of charge. Our first festival was held at the University of Notre Dame and attracted 3,000 visitors! In 2019, we will offer a much larger venue.
Vegfests are increasingly popular around the country and around the world to promote plant-based eating and living for health, sustainability, and animal welfare. Our VegFest will include known speakers and chefs, several from our area. We will also have many vendors offering food and other products, and a fun-filled kids’ activities area, in addition to live music at a special performance by The Bergamot Duo.
Our mission is to bring together our northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan communities to explore an array of exciting flavors and options in the vastly expanding plant-based eating world. By sharing new vegan products and services and providing speakers, we promote plant-based diets for health, compassion and environmental conservation. We encourage everyone to make healthy food choices for their own lives and to support our local vegan-friendly businesses and organizations.
Michiana is increasingly vegan-friendly with supportive restaurants and businesses in South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, Elkhart, Goshen, Michigan City, Fort Wayne, Niles, Berrien Springs, Three Oaks, Stevensville, Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, and Kalamazoo, to name only a few in Indiana and Michigan.
Michiana enjoys two active Meetup groups, VegMichiana Meetup in the South Bend area and Kalamazoo Meetup; two thriving Facebook groups, VegMichiana and Vegans of Michiana. Our region offers great resources for vegans, vegetarians and those curious about making the transition as well as an active, vibrant and supportive plant-based community. Our VegFest will bring them all together. Read more...

Because Covid-19 continues to spread and there is no clear indication when its progression can be checked, Michiana VegFest’s Board of Directors unanimously decided to reschedule our event to October 17, 2021. We look forward to welcoming everyone next year! In the meantime, we will organize online streaming events to promote our local sponsors, speakers, chefs, and exhibitors. Please stay tuned for announcements and take good care of yourselves.
Our FREE festival welcomes everyone in our community. Let’s celebrate a plant-based lifestyle for health, compassion, and the environment! Michiana VegFest brings together our northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan communities to explore an array of exciting flavors and options. By showcasing original vegan products and providing nationally recognized speakers and chefs, we promote a plant-based lifestyle for health, compassion, and environmental conservation. We encourage everyone to make healthy food choices for their own lives and to support our local vegan-friendly businesses and organizations.
In 2021, Michiana VegFest will have the whole first floor of the Century Center and will last one hour longer than in 2019. This means more space to move in and more time to enjoy speakers, chef demos, and exhibitors.
EVERYONE is invited to VegFest! We especially welcome children to a fun-filled, informational, and experiential Kids’ Corner.
