I started with being vegetarian at 16 years old (20 years ago now!) and then made the switch to vegan 7 years ago. At the time, when I was 16, I was working in a restaurant on Thanksgiving day. I remember the amount of turkey's I saw in the back of the kitchen that were being cut for dishes. Maybe even a little worse, I remember how many people ate less than half of their dinner, scraping the remains into the trash. In that moment I wondered: on what scale is this happening around the world? How many turkeys have to die to make this possible? I was also heartbroken at the amount of waste. I went home after my shift and started searching these questions online... and I learned about factory farming, I learned about the numbers, and it changed my life.
