Down is the soft layer of feathers closest to birds’ skin, primarily in the chest region. These feathers are highly valued by manufacturers of down clothing and comforters because they do not have quills. Plucking causes geese and ducks considerable pain and distress. Typically, they are lifted by their necks or delicate wings, their legs are physically restrained or tied, and their feathers are ripped right out of their skin. The struggling birds are often plucked so hard that their skin is torn open and the hurried workers sew up the wounds using needle and thread and no painkillers. Plucking may begin when the animals are just 10 weeks old and be repeated in six-week intervals until the birds are slaughtered for meat long before they would naturally die.

Posters will be provided. Note that reserved parking will not be available, and please be prepared for the weather. Outreach events are a fun and effective way to help animals as well as meet local advocates, so before you go, check out these outreach tips [http://www.mediapeta.com/peta/PDF/tips_for_PETA_activists.pdf] and be sure to invite others. All materials will be provided, so please just bring along as many friends and family members as you can.

The Cube of Truth by Anonymous for the Voiceless is a peaceful static demonstration akin to an art performance. This demonstration operates in a structured manner that triggers curiosity and interest from the public; we attempt to lead bystanders to a vegan conclusion through a combination of local standard-practice animal exploitation footage and conversations with a value-based sales approach.

Masks, signs, and outreach literature are provided. Black upper clothing appropriate for the weather is essential, and please bring a fully charged laptop or tablet if you have one. If you are bringing a laptop or a tablet, please download the following:

  1. Hi. In addition to all of this Augusta GA Animal Save and Atlanta Anaimal save represnetimg the save movement will be holding a vigil on Fri AM beginng at 7am. I will have the event posted today. Alos the Monday post bowlvigil is in Augusta GA and histed by Augusta Ga Animal Save do hosted by TSM.

  2. I wonder if the organization Anonymous for the Voiceless should be mentioned in the Cube of Truth description and also the paragraphs that lists the other orgs that are participating in activism ? Btw we have organizers and team members representing 13 SE US AV chapters and 3 Save chapters represented too!

    • Thanks, I’ll add Anonymous for the Voiceless to that. I did this post in a hurry to help pull together what was happening for a friend and thought it may help others see the various things going on. The link to the facebook event for each has more specific details, like The Cube’s link goes to the AV event. I guess I assumed people would know cube=AV or they’re clicking on the link.
Ideally the events would be on VeganLinked. Then people could just pick Atlanta and boom. Or the URL for events in Atlanta could have been all people needed to see what was happening and when. It’s easy to add events to the site. If I wasn’t so engulfed in trying to finish the documentary (which I think you will enjoy, tentatively titled Prevent Year Zero) and a few other things I’m working on I probably would have added every event on here. So I figured this would be quick and easy enough…
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll mention AV in the description here real quick. Thanks again!
