My Vegan Story :
I went vegan for ethical reasons and plant-based for my health. Having grown up with dogs, I eventually got dogs myself. It was the amazing bond I formed with my pooches as an adult that opened up my empathetic eyes to the complex and beautiful spectrum of emotions that animals possess, and ultimately, provided me with the conduit to vegetarianism in 2014. After watching Earthlings, and resonating so profoundly with the message of activists like Gary Yourofsky, James Aspey and Earthling Ed, I went vegan in 2016. During this period, I had transitioned fairly seamlessly from an omnivorous junk food diet, to highly processed, vegan junk so I was a poor candidate to discuss, let alone showcase the health benefits of whole food, plant-based veganism. Documentaries like What the Health and Forks over Knives along with compelling literature such as The China Study and How Not to Die were pivotal influences in my decision to give up junk food, take control of my health and become a “poster boy” for plant-based eating.

I became a vegan about a year ago because I just felt unhealthy. I was overweight, my skin was pail and dull, so on, etc. The transformation was amazing! I lost 20 lbs and I beamed with healthiness.
But then… I went down for 3 weeks to visit friends and family. I decided beforehand that I would eat what they ate and not be a nuisance. Unfortunately, I have struggled to maintain my vegan diet since returning 5 months ago. I feel tired and moody

I grew up thinking that animal products in general were such a part of "normal" everyday life. I never challenged any of it. Mid 2016, a friend started sharing information with me and I began to learn what I felt I already knew. It was difficult, realizing how long I had my back turned to the truth. I decided no more, I confronted the truth and learned to be a more compassionate and empathetic person. I believe in the movement so much, its also what I do for a living! Veganism is the future!

Been on and off vegan diet for many years, started with vegetarian diet. Want to go total vegan, married to doctor who was brought up mostly vegetarian, had a severe mucus problem and sinus infection, have reneged a bit and eaten some dairy, some meat& fish (a few times a year) only for many decades now. Finally getting message about IGF-1, watch and following many advocates such as Dr. Vincent Longo, Dr. Milton Mills, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Michael Greger, Dr. Neil Barnard, Dr. DeanOrnish, Dr. T. Colin Campbell of "The China Study", Dr. Esselstyn and his son Rip, author of "Engine 2 Diet", Dr. John Mc Dougall and many others. Am trying to go total vegan, may be using too much soymilk (according to Dr. Mills), want to get the balance better, overcome my "cultural" way of eating, digging into a "total" switch, which is a monumental task for anyone taking cues from wrong sources, such as the USDA food pyramid model. That's about it.

My Vegan Story :
After a couple of years in the transition phase, in January of 2021, I committed to being 100% plant-based. I'd slip a day and pick myself up recognizing how sick whatever it was I ate made me. The time before 2021, I was mainly plant-based and it gave me a chance to learn more, especially from the luminaries who pioneered the science-backed studies confirming the benefits of living a plant-based lifestyle. I experienced more, learned more, and talked to more who were inspiring and encouraging. Today, I realize the vision I had of veganism was shaded by the veil of misunderstanding. Hearing people talk about being vegan, even in retrospect doesn't due it justice. I heard the words of compassion and feeling love. I had to experience it from a mother's perspective. I could imagine what it felt like to have your child snatched away from you. I could imagine how it might feel to be raped and impregnated, forced to have the child, and have it stolen away from you. I could imagine how a chicken who was born to lay eggs, would do so only to never see them incubate and hatch. I could imagine the pain of living years couped up in a pen and treated horrendously in horrendous conditions. It reminded me of what my ancestors felt like in the hull of a big boat after being stolen from their homes and carried for months in untenable conditions only to be sold to a human who treated them like animals. I have felt the impact of living in a smog riddled environment; concerned about growing plants because of acid rain and polluted ground water. These are still concerns and I am more than ever committed to being the example of living a healthy whole food, plant-based vegan lifestyle. At nearly 70 years old, I plan to see a few more decades healthy and prosperous as I help others to share their message and help others as well.

My Vegan Story :
I went vegan after watching Gary Yourofsky's best speech in 2011. I literally did nothing more than stop eating what little animal I was eating already and just ate more of everything else I ate, including french fries. In 2017 I had my bloodwork done to save money on my insurance. My total cholesterol was 121!

I remembered having my bloodwork done about 6 years earlier; in late 2010, right before I happened to go vegan. My total cholesterol was 168 then. Six years of not eating animals, no other changes, brought my LDL and Triglycerides down that much and HDL up too. The visceral fat fast that had been progressively accumulating around my waist just like my father, and both of my grandfathers, vanished. And still now at 51 in 2024 I'm basically the same as I was when I was in my late 20's. And, I no longer get sick. Before going vegan I would usually get sick twice a year at the change of the seasons; hence the reason I had my bloodwork done in 2010.

All of this intrigued me. So, I started listening to doctors on YouTube. I also just started walking in my neighborhood for the first time. I would take these long walks and absorb so much of it that I was inspired to prepare more whole plant foods, dig deeper into nutrition, and that led into a little into science, biochemistry, anatomy, evolution, and logic, looking at how others are doing around me, how I've improved but my extended family didn't when they were in their 30's. I'm now 50 with the same body I had in my 20's and very sedentary with all this editing and not being very happy with walking in this neighborhood anymore.

I went vegan for ethical reasons in 2011. In 2017 I realized everyone can be vegan and may even be significantly healthier as a result eating a well-planned vegan diet. Understanding the potential a vegan way of eating has for human health I became obligated to do all I can to share this information, learn more, explore far, and help others along the way as much as I can. To make sure, again I had to ask, "is there any reason to eat animals?" and no one could justify it for anything other than social conformity, an infantile habituation really.

In an effort to organize my contributions and efforts, free content creation for vegan businesses and events, I started VeganLinked.com as a website directory. I didn't have the budget or help to accomplish much beyond that in the first stretch of working on the site. I took a break from developing the site after a few months into it and just left it on autopilot while I was building up the YouTube.com/VeganLinked channel.

Now the channel is approaching 100K subscribers. I’ve shot hundreds of interviews around the country on location, solo. I produced a documentary for Jane Velez-Mitchell in 2019. I bought a house an hour and an half from me in 2020 to produce videos with Dr. Garth Davis; after fixing the house up, renting it b/c I can’t afford it, putting an accessory building on the property and turning that into a studio.

Garth and I did about 5 videos before he and his family suddenly had to move back to Texas. At the same time Dr Kong approached me about the book she was working on called Vegan Voices; composed of stories from 50 different authors.

I offered to interview some of the authors from her book if she helped me with travel and coordination. And it was that first run that set motion for hundreds more interviews to come.

Right away, about 3 interviews in, I realized I needed to do a documentary. I had helped Jane with hers but that was her vision and entirely her style. I just did all the editing and helped think things through and shot some of it.

The documentary I would love to do hasn’t been done really. And it’s unfolding now through the interviews as they progress.

As time has permitted over the years I have tried to come back to the website. Each time I have spent a couple or few months dealing with the developers and ultimately brought it a step further. I worked hard on the site from 12/22 to 3/23 and really overcame some milestones (with listings & events) that were holding me back for years. This enabled me to focus on and try and take the site to a new level (with user profiles) which brought on new issues. Now in 2024 I’m getting past those user issues and implementing a forum and hopefully getting to a point of stylizing the site and actually start promoting it.

So, that’s just some of how things evolved in my vegan life; from ethics to health, to everything and everyone, to doing all I can and now this is all I do. I would love to pull off a huge documentary. But, thus far it’s just been me with really zero budget. Consequently, it may just end up being more of a compilation instead of reshooting specifically for the documentary and with a team.

I went vegetarian for the first time when I was 16 when I found out about the suffering. I spent the next 15 years bouncing back and forth struggling to comprehend the reality of animal agriculture and reconcile that with the decent people I knew in the world I thought I lived in… Finally on 2005 all of the information I’ve been reading for 15 years clicked, after watching a particularly devastating undercover video of a Chinese for farm. Part of my inability to stay vegetarian or vegan in the past had something to do with not feeling well, so when I went vegan and 2005 I decided to learn about nutrition and try to be as healthy as possible. I’d now say I’m vegan for the animals, the environment, and health. No the truth is, it’s my love of animals more than anything that got me to go vegan and will keep me VEGAN forever no matter what. I run a small animal rights group in Mobile, Alabama, as well as a micro sanctuary for chickens rescued from animal agriculture. I also at any given time share my home/life with around 12 to 15 rescue cats and three rescue dogs. And I’m about to release a short documentary on the importance of including non-human animals in our circle of compassion.

My Vegan Story :

Being a Vegetarian all my life, I never felt the need of eating meet or eggs but loved dairy and dairy products more than any of the plant based food. In mid 2014, while living in Seattle, I came across some talk on Internet which talked about impact of Dairy on health, environmental and the cruelty involved. It didn't believe it and started researching further, over the period of next few weeks, I found overwhelming evidence of each of these aspects and it all started to make sense. Then over the next few months I started weaning off after like 38 years of my life. It was rather a long and lonely journey in a not so conducive envirnment. By the end of the year I was 90% off it. The next 10% took considerable amount of time. In Aug 2016 I visited the only Vegan Groery Store of Seattle, to volunteer and that day onwards I can say I was offcially a Vegan. Over the last 3.5 years I have come to realization that Vegan junk food can also be as unhealth as animal products. So, I mostly try to follow a Whole Food Plant Based diet. Some day, I hope to develop as strong a repulsion for oil, refined sugar and refined grains as I have for dairy today.

I was taken to a hatchery at 9 and saw all the chicks being gassed and suffocated. I went vegetarian in 1980 but didn’t put the full story of animal suffering together until around 1985. I was at a vegan picnic when I said "I don’t eat animals" but I was drinking milk in my English tea and someone said “You don’t kill animals to eat you just abuse and exploit them”. As soon as I was alone in my car driving away from the event my conscience knew and wouldn’t allow me to continue to financially support egregious cruelty I had not “ seen “ until his comment. He became my best friend really and we are still friends to this day and fellow activists 38 years later.

My Vegan Story :
I grew up on a small farm in the midwest, we had cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, lots of cats, and a dog. I knew all about the process of raising animals that eventually were loaded up on a truck and...we know the rest.
I was the county fair queen and champion beef showman, but on the flip side, I remember the sadness I felt when that champion steer was loaded onto a truck.
In my college years, I announced I was a vegetarian to my family, that didn't go over well. It was like I had just denounced our way of life. However, my father - a hard working fit man who never drank alcohol or smoked, died of a massive heart attack at the age of 51. He looked so healthy, but we ate meat, eggs, and dairy at nearly every meal. Fast foward five decades and I watch The Game Changers. My next meal was vegan and I never looked back. I know most people can't change that quickly, but I did. I've witnessed several family members and loved ones struggle with heart bypass operations, the fear, the pain. I want to spare others (and yes, myself).

My Vegan Story :
I ate the standard American diet my whole life, I have been having surgeries since the age of 8 and I now know it was all from eating animal products. At the age of 41 I found out that I had colon cancer and had surgery to remove the tumors. I had a chemo port placed and before I started with the therapy I watched "what the Health" and immediately I went on a whole food plant based diet. I am almost 45 now and I feel better than I did in my 20s. I am now fascinated with the human system and learn as much as I can everyday and started working at a gym and am able to help others learn about the detrimental effects of the standard American diet and the benefits of a vegan diet by listening to my story

I saw factory farmed undercover investigation footage many years ago and thought it was horrific how we treat animals. I went vegetarian a few times, then went vegan a few times, then slowly started getting into activism—and now my life is devoted to helping end factory farming and help animals in other ways. Going vegan and getting into the movement was one of the best things I've done with my life!

I became a vegetarian around 15. There were limited health food stores or vegan options back then. I am so grateful to have continued to pursue a plantbased lifestyle and eventually become vegan.

My Vegan Story :
I have always been a dedicated carnivore. I gained a lot of weight and attained 400 lbs, with an insulin pump, a1c of 12.4, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, restricted breathing due to the weight, couldn't move without effort and pain, couldn't walk more than 25 ft or stand for more than 2 min. So I had gastric bypass. I lost 160 lbs in one year because I couldn't hold any food down at all. It's been 3 yrs and I still can't hold down meat or drink cows milk without getting sick. I've come to realize that I can't depend on my old diet to live. I had lost a total of 200 lbs then I gained 50 back due to extreme sweet cravings. I started looking into alternative ways of eating while still getting my protein and meeting more of my nutrient needs. I was leaning towards Mediterranean, pescatarian, flexitarian but I started to look deeper and found youtube videos by Dr. Furhman, Dr. Colin Campbell, Forks over Knives, The Game Changers, etc and my thinking changed. I couldn't stand to hear the pigs screaming in pain or the thought of the emotional devastation of the separation of cows and their calves, the pain that chickens now live through because of overcrowding and hormones that make them grow too much and too fast. I found out I can get my protein from other sources without putting an animal in pain to do it. I am still on the journey and working on my diet with the goal of being fully vegan. I'm not eating meat at all, but I am still eating cheese and cooking with milk or cream when needed. I know there are alternatives to that and am researching product by product. I'm trying not to depend on processed vegan foods but concentrating on whole foods.

My Vegan Story :
Let’s turn your vegan website into a success story! As veganbusinesstrainer, I help vegan coaches, entrepreneurs and businesses launch professional websites that attract more customers – with you, in 1 day.

As a digital nomad and fitness enthusiast, I get to know vegan coaches, entrepreneurs and businesses in all parts of the world - and they want to motivate our fellow humans to lead a vegan, fulfilling and healthy life and they consider their own business. But most of them don't even start - out of perfectionism and fear of failure - or have websites where their customers don't buy their offers. When my contacts started earning more money with my tips, I knew: If my contacts work with my tips and start a successful vegan business, I can motivate other people to do the same!

I would like to pass on my experience as an online solo entrepreneur and help vegan coaches and vegan entrepreneurs to start their own business with confidence. With my experience and my implementation mindset, I am convinced that you can build a successful business and support other people in a vegan, fulfilling and healthy life.

We are two passionate women who both believe in compassion to all beings. Not only do we advocate respect and kindness to those around us, but we believe this compassion should also extend to those that we do not see day to day.

We have been a voice for the animals for many years and practice what we preach by both enjoying and thriving on a vegan diet. While some people start and stop with what is on their plate we also do not buy or wear any animal products. Where possible we are strictly cruelty free and this includes in the brands we buy and support.
