After my wife went vegan, I decided to try it for a month so I would better understand the decisions she would have to make at grocery stores & restaurants, how she would have to prepare meals, etc. After three weeks I knew I would stay with it. I spent some time a few years ago trying to learn web development and built a vegan web site as my practice project. I got more involved in animal agriculture, climate issues, etc. through that.

My cancer diagnosis led me to my doctoral research in search of the Ideal Diet For Humans. By following this whole-food, mostly plant-based diet, I healed from cancer and got my energy and vitality back. Then one day a friend sent me a video of Gary Yurofsky's lecture. Immediately after viewing his talk and understanding the suffering caused by the meat and dairy industry, I became a vegan never to eat any animal products again.

My Vegan Story :
I am a biomedical scientist who has been a passionate vegan advocate since 2013!

I remember telling myself I love meat so much that I can never live without it. This was later replaced with cheese when I went vegetarian.

Today, I am the Founder and CEO of Allied Scholars for Animal Protection, a nonprofit that brings vegan outreach and education to universities, to support and mentor students and future leaders! We are building a unified, effective, and sustainable infrastructure for animal advocacy in universities by focusing on 3 areas:

Vegan outreach, education and community building, and making dining halls plant based!

www.AlliedScholars.org

My transition started when my friend told me that I can't say I love animals and eat them too! I resisted for several months, but when I was presented with facts and also saw what animals go through for meat, egg, dairy, wool, experimentation, etc. the only rational and ethical decision was to go vegan.

At the same time, the more I learned about the health benefits of plant-based diet, and the health and environmental issues caused by animal consumption, the more I realized this is the root cause of many issues I always cared about! These problems are inherent to animal consumption and not just "how" we exploit animals and factory farms. For instance, free-rage or grass fed animals still contribute to zoonotic diseases, pandemics, antibiotic resistance, and climate change. In fact, in some ways, they are worse!

Veganism isn't just this arbitrary cause that I suddenly became interested in. It is the most impactful, important, and urgent topic we should be talking about. By understanding the depth of the problem and the amount of suffering caused by animal consumption to both human and nonhuman animals, I know that
rationally, mathematically, statistically, and ethically the best way to use my time and energy to help others is to be a vegan and advocate veganism, and that's what I've been doing since 2013!

My vegan transition was very quick. Around halloween 2013 my daughter asked me to watch a video with her...sneaky. It was the documentary Vegecated. After watching it she asked me if I would do the 6 week challenge with her. I agreed and we watched more videos on nutrition and food preparation. After about 2 weeks we decided that this was a sustainable of living. While it was challenging at first to read all the labels in the grocery store, little by little it became easier. While initially I chose veganism for my health, my conviction to stay on this path is for the animals and for the environment. I truly believe that the future health of our planet is dependent on a total transition to plant based lifestyle for all humans. And as a byproduct of compassionate living we will eradicate all forms of oppression and hate.

The day I decided to become vegan was the day when I went to the emergency room. I had already been a vegetarian for six years prior and swore I wouldn't give up cheese. Prior to going to the ER, I had eaten my mom's mac and cheese, her banging sour cream mashed potatoes, and a whole lot of sweets loaded in dairy. Two days later I ended up in the ER from eating too much of the dairy products amd they said they might have to remove my gall bladder. Luckily, I passed call stones in doctors care amd decided from that day forward that I will not eat dairy again! Since then, it has been interesting creating new and uniquely different meals. Becoming vegan has opened my eating pallet a totally different way!

My first exposure to veganism was when I moved to CO in 2008. I had a few friends in grad school that were vegan, and I had also joined a Kung Fu school where the instructors were vegan themselves. My instructors promoted the health benefits of a plant based diet. I remembered that one of them was talking to a fellow student, and they mentioned that 30% of cow's milk is legally allowed to be pus. That was the moment I knew I had to become vegan. It took me a few years to fully make the commitment, mostly because I was worried about what my family and friends would think of me. After moving back to NC, I then became an activist for the animals after learning what happens to animals in the industry.

I enjoy cycling and cycling videos on Youtube. A video by DurianRider showed up on my recommended list called "Sh!t Cyclists Say." It was really funny and so I looked at more of his content, expecting more comedy. Instead, I found some superb plant-based nutrition advice that I started to incorporate into my cycling. Curious, I investigated more plant-based content from other content creators and doctors. I read the books, watched the documentaries, and gave it a try. I lost weight, my blood pressure improved, and my cholesterol improved. And my cycling has been getting better and better year after year. As I have gotten more into this lifestyle I have learned about animal welfare, the environmental impact of our food, and racial justice issues. I am only disappointed that I didn't learn about plant-based eating earlier in life.

Joined a petition against a church's pig rassle, then saw undercover vidoes of animal ag. Devastated, but it woke me up, realized it was wrong to eat animals. Did tons of research, learned about agriculture, who the animals are, what sentience means, what vegan means, ahimsa; learned about health, resources, and wild lives. All are thoroughly, negatively impacted by raising animals, fowl, fish, and insects for food. Continue to research and advocate for the many reasons to go vegan.

I was vegetarian for 7 years, 1971-1978 because I believed it was important to living a spiritual life, and learned all nutrition . I gradually went back to eating animals except for cow's flesh. Yet vegetarian food remained a favorite. In spring of 2014, on Facebook I found a protest against a "pig rassle" by an animal rights group in Wisconsin (USA). These are like rodeos but for pigs, and in big mud pits. I was horrified by the cruelty, magnified because it was sponsored by a church. Through this protest I came across undercover videos of animal agriculture that shocked and disgusted me. I dove into researching more and very quickly went vegan, within a week. I learned about the many solutions offered by veganism to some of the most crucial, pervasive issues of our time. For me, living vegan is aligning my actions with the deepest values we all hold dear. It's about respecting all lives and being caregivers of the eatth.
During the first couple of vears, my advocacy was often driven by the outrage I felt in response to the inherent cruelty of all forms of commodifying sentient beings. Then I started a vegan food outreach business. BotaniCuisine. As my advocacy continued to evolve, I realized how important it is to build bridges of understanding, extending respect to those we want to reach yet maintaining an honest, uncompromising message.

I was fat sick & dying of heart disease, pre-diabectic, 6 yrs Insomnia. I could barely stand, my feet were so painful. Everything hurt. I had arthritis. I was Vegetarian for 18 years at the time. When I first went vegetarian I became very healthy but now I realise I was mostly Vegan then I got a job and more money started coming in so I started buying heaps of chocolate, cakes, cheese, Eggs, dairy milk. I was 55 yrs old & believed we get old, fat & sick, live on pharmaceutical drugs then Die... I was ! My mother died of a brain tumour, my uncle - diabetes, aunty - 3 strokes & she died before 55. Another aunty - cancer.
...Then a Vegan came into my life...I learned what happens to cows & chickens... I decided I cannot be a part of such horrific Cruelty!
My daughter rang me at the precise moment...her first words were "mum, I'm going Vegan" to which I replied "so am I...Little did we know the dramatic, miraculous change going Vegan would have.

My daughter is now a well known animal activists...In America her nick name is "thunder from down under" - someone else calls her "The perfect storm."

Within a very short time after going Vegan my body healed - COMPLETELY!! MY doctors reaction to my before & after Vegan blood tests was unbelievable... he just sat there staring from the before to after results & couldn't speak except to finally say "How?"
I needed the answers to that question so I went on a journey to find out WHY.... I found Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Michael Greger & so many more doctors that turned from traditional medicines to studying Nutrition.

I'm now 8 years Vegan & I'm 64 - I can run, climb, move my furniture myself... I'm stronger, healthier, faster than I've ever been in my life. My brain absorbs more information faster. I'm so Grateful!
11 people at my dog park have gone Vegan.
My 6 year old Granddaughter has become a Vegan activist but she pronounces Vegan as Began 😆. My sister & brother are Vegan.

After going Vegan to Stop Cruelty to farm animals - ones whole mind set changes and we find ourselves thinking ethically on every subject. I'm now also an environmentalist.

I would like to live to see a Vegan world in which Kindness motivates us - animal farmers grow crops & greedy polititicians have to start listening...this is when we Take back our Power ! With KINDESS💚🌳🐥

5 years ago my physician said my cholesterol was too high and I must start taking Lipitor. I'm not a fan of taking medicine, especially on a permanent basis, but it was the side-affects that really scared me (get your liver checked every six months?????) I asked her if there was anything else I can do and the answer was "Change your parents." I did not like this answer and I did some research and found the suggestion that changing to a vegan diet would help. The biggest driver for me was the "China Study." I'm an engineer with a math minor, numbers speak to me and I know how you can lie with numbers. The staggering amount of participants in the study, the length, and the goals removed all my doubts.

I looked at other materials like "Forks over Knives" and such. As so, I got my blood work done, spent 3 weeks getting to a Vegan diet, was on a full Vegan diet for 2 weeks more, then got my blood work done.

Not surprising to anyone probably reading this, my bad cholesterol alone when from 186 to 90. Other numbers were very very good also. My physician was very pleased. It was at this point I asked her "Why didn't you suggest this?" and the answer "Noone will change there diet this drastically for health."

I was extremely happy with the results and made a life change to eating Vegan. I was also very upset about the fact my Physician didn't feel it was something I should know that a Vegan diet would help because I would want to eat my self to the grave.

Over the years I found another health route of problems... You cand still eat CRAP and be a Vegan. Just recently my health has started to slip, Colersteral is still good, but sugar is high, blood pressure is up, etc. Using information from Dr. Greger, and reading his two books, I've gone 100% Plat based (as much as possible) and implemented his programs. My last visit... excellent! Making huge strides in the issue areas.

This information needs to be pushed out to EVERYONE. We are killing ourselves one dollar at a time to Big Food/Drink/Meat/Dairy. This alone should be enough for us to wake up. The other benefits like saving our environment, the cruel treatment of animals, etc are huge too, however, most people may resonate with the "what's in it for me right now"

My Vegan Story :

My Vegan Story :
My grandfather was a dairy farmer and, for a few years before I was born, my father took over the farm. After I was born, we had pigs until my parents started a plant nursery instead. Nevertheless, animals were always there to work for us, not be with us. I knew everything about milk production, but it didn't bother me one bit. My favorite foods were steak (rare) and cheese (blue). Still, I always considered myself a good eco-friendly citizen and in particular I was keen on cycling everywhere. Sometime in 2013, I got into an online argument with someone who told me that, if I was fueling my bike rides with steak, I might have well have been driving a Hummer. That was like a punch in the gut: I had never thought about the environmental impact of my food before. I started educating myself and decided to go plant-based at home and vegetarian when eating out. At friends' homes, I would eat anything. Then in 2015 my second child was born. Just like the first one, I breastfed him... except that now I truly felt compassion for the cows. It was in the middle of the night, while nursing him, that an awful thought hit me: what if someone came, took away my baby, and hooked me to a milk machine instead? The morning after, I decided to be vegan for life.

The BuyEatVegan team consists of passionate individuals who hold their own set of morals and values, each centered around the grand idea of veganism putting an end to animal cruelty, helping us live better lives every day, and restore proper respect for all forms of life besides just our own. Our goal is to educate and inform the public about inhumane processes, alternatives to those processes, and make the argument that veganism can and will make a significant positive change in personal lives as well as bettering our society as a whole.

After being vegetarian for over a decade, I made the full switch as I realized more and more, that I was not doing enough to end the use of animals in the food chain.

My Vegan Story :
Started eating a 100% plant based diet, but then ran across the vegan documentaries during the process of learning more. Became vegan overnight once watching those documentaries. Was exposed to the concept of veganism in the early 2000s, but was scared off by a trusted source with a PhD that I wouldn\'t be capable of keeping myself healthy. Very happy to eventually learn that what was told to me was complete myth.

Has eat a lot and all, but one day found a small video about human digestion, and after that wanted to try a raw-food for one week. After that was months and years of vegan and vegan raw-food.
Especially one person has described me, if I eat someone, it almost the same if I bite or hurt myself.
I hope someday everyone will be vegan or raw-food vegan.

I was pescaterian for a year, at 57 years old, decided to go vegan a year into it. As much as I liked the taste of meat, I never wanted anyone to die for me. So, I said, no more. Better late than never! Now I am WFPB certified. A volunteer with a local vegan/animal rights group. I protest, do investigations and anything else I can to to promote animal welfare and compassion.

My super cool older cousin came home from college and dared me not to eat any meat on Thanksgiving day of 1996. I was 9, I took the dare! That night she showed me a VHS tape that she had brought back from college - it was being passed around amongst her friends. It was similar to footage from Earthlings. I never ate another animal again! I didn't learn about the rest until 19 years later, and I continue to learn more every single day. We went vegan in 2015. My son did it the same day, despite me trying to convince him to wait and let me try it first. I'm so thankful he had more sense than me at 5 years old! Now he goes by VeganEvan and speak all over the country! We do activism everywhere we go 🙂

Hi, I’m Andy Liu, the founder of HZCORK. I met with Portugal cork on the year 2015. I went on an exclusive tour to Portugal and found there is cork shop in every streets and alleys. I was astonished by how cork can be used to do. Every cork item looks so beautiful and unique, like a piece of art. I decided to bring them to my homeland. So I create my own cork fabric manufacturing factory.

Cork is one of the most sustainable products and cork is very resistant, impermeable, vegan, eco-friendly, 100% natural, lightweight, recyclable, renewable waterproof, wear-resistant, biodegradable, does not absorb dust, thus preventing allergies. No animal products are used and no tests are made to animals.

Cork is also sustainably harvested-- the trees are not harmed in the cork removal process.

I was never a huge 'meat' eater, and was a bit bothered by my father hiding food from us kids, but he'd serve himself steak, like a big delicacy, and give us kids hamburger helper? By 2015 I was struggling to find my lifelong self, with a lifelong diet, and health, and animal product was the obvious choice. I've forever been an animal lover, more so now than before, and I knew at an early age, but perhaps subconsciously?, that when I saw that McDonalds was professing on their Golden Arches, 'Over x-million burgers served,' that there were restaurants were all over the place and the number was growing. A LOT OF BOVINE WERE SENSELESSLY KILLED because of gluttony and lack of education, and now We are fatter than ever and growing! We are our own keepers and our planet reflects what we are doing. It is not just cows, but all animals, all pieces of land, all parts of the planet, and our whole bodies. Ugh, where do we go from here, is how I feel sometimes.

I was punished as a kid for not eating meat. As an adult, I thought I had to. I skirted it as best I could and then my nephew said that his U of O Athletic Coach said to be healthy - no meat, no dairy! I finally got the permission that I was waiting for as a kid. I went vegan mid-sentence.

I was a vegetarian since age 11. 4 years ago i finally became woke and vegan. I became an activist organizer for DxE Panama and later also for Animal Save Movement and Earthlings Experience. I am currently busy with my Non profit foundation which is the umbrella for our activism here in Panama, as well as the basis for the vegan movement. Aiming at starting the construction of the first Farm Animal Sanctuary in Panama end of this year, or asap (CoVid 19 sort of makes things a bit unstable) I live with 20 rescued animals, 3 of which are Cats with FIV.

My Vegan Story :
I met a family of Vegans when I was 16 & stopped buying any animal products but a year later went on Shell Tankers & ate whatever was on the menu.
I met Vegans again when I was 24 and again stopped buying animal products but when my 1st daughter was born my partner wanted 'normal food' & I had no idea how to transition to a vegan diet.
Age 50 I found myself alone, 4 grown up children & at liberty to educate myself & decide my diet.
I began with 'What the Health' & immediately had an epiphany! I realised my dad died of prostate cancer & heart disease because he ate a high cholesterol saturated animal fat diet...& I had never heard any doctor warnings!
I began watching lots of films; 'Cowspiracy', Earthlings', 'Dominion', slaughterhouse footage & activism.
I have been a 'keyboard warrior' since 2016 when I started sharing Vegan memes, posts & msgs 2 as many people as possible. I do this thru instagram, twitter, FaceBook, SnapChat & now Linkdn... My mission is to unite all vegans to #preventyearzero #VeganWorld2026
