VegFest Puerto Rico is a nonprofit organization that emerged in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, when the island faced food shortages and a lack of access to medical services. With doctors leaving and limited food imports, the community turned to natural remedies and herb-based medicine.
In response to these challenges, VegFest Puerto Rico was established as a free annual event aimed at promoting a better future for all. This all-day vegan festival brings together local farmers, artisans, food vendors, and various programs to create a space of positivity and education.
By supporting local farmers and businesses, VegFest Puerto Rico showcases the abundance of vegan options available on the island. It serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge, fostering community engagement, and empowering individuals to make sustainable and compassionate choices.
VegFest Puerto Rico stands as a testament to resilience and hope, highlighting the importance of sustainable agriculture, animal welfare, and holistic well-being. It is a celebration of the power of unity and the positive impact that can be achieved by working together towards a more compassionate and sustainable world. Read more...

Because Covid-19 continues to spread and there is no clear indication when its progression can be checked, Michiana VegFest’s Board of Directors unanimously decided to reschedule our event to October 17, 2021. We look forward to welcoming everyone next year! In the meantime, we will organize online streaming events to promote our local sponsors, speakers, chefs, and exhibitors. Please stay tuned for announcements and take good care of yourselves.
Our FREE festival welcomes everyone in our community. Let’s celebrate a plant-based lifestyle for health, compassion, and the environment! Michiana VegFest brings together our northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan communities to explore an array of exciting flavors and options. By showcasing original vegan products and providing nationally recognized speakers and chefs, we promote a plant-based lifestyle for health, compassion, and environmental conservation. We encourage everyone to make healthy food choices for their own lives and to support our local vegan-friendly businesses and organizations.
In 2021, Michiana VegFest will have the whole first floor of the Century Center and will last one hour longer than in 2019. This means more space to move in and more time to enjoy speakers, chef demos, and exhibitors.
EVERYONE is invited to VegFest! We especially welcome children to a fun-filled, informational, and experiential Kids’ Corner.

Branchfood is happy to announce that Food Edge, our annual conference, is taking place digitally on October 21-23, 2020. The food industry is experiencing unprecedented change. Now more than ever, it is essential for entrepreneurs, leaders, and researchers to understand the latest disruptions in the food industry and be innovative.
Food Edge brings together the industry’s largest brands, disruptive startups, and leading researchers to discuss the future of food. This year, we’re going digital, providing entrepreneurs and investors with key industry insights and actionable takeaways to help them adapt and succeed in the new normal. In line with our mission to catalyze innovation and provide valuable resources and connections to food entrepreneurs and investors, we’re hosting 3 tracks: Emerging Startups, Industry Trends, and Food Investment. Each half-day track includes industry panels/curated webinars and networking sessions, and is optimized to minimize regular workflow and drive maximum engagement and value to our attendees.
Just like in the previous years, we are inviting more than 20 leaders in the field to shed light on those transformations, reveal the latest trends and breakthrough technologies, and share their perspective on where they believe the industry is heading specifically in terms of agriculture, supply chain, retail, and consumption. Some of our speakers include Isha Datar, Executive Director of New Harvest; Adam Behrens, Co-Founder & CEO of Mori; Michele Fite, Chief Commercial Officer & Strategic Planning of Motif FoodWorks; Seth Goldman, Founder of Eat the Change; Jackie Suggitt, Director of Stakeholder Engagement at ReFED; Nick McCoy, Co-Founder of Whipstitch Capital; and more.

Originally an in-person road show around North America, the Pinky Promise Tour is now virtual — and global — and with a solution that can not only help heal our climate and prevent species extinction, but can help heal 3 of the main risk factors for COVID-19 mortality (hypertension, diabetes and heart disease) and help prevent future zoonotic diseases. PBN is delighted to announce the premiere of its new documentary Vegan 2019 in Los Angeles’ Beverly Hills. In recent years, the vegan movement has skyrocketed; no longer a niche movement, the v-word now makes regular appearances in the mainstream. Data puts the number of vegans in the UK for example anywhere between 600,000 and 3.5 million, depending which source you look at.
In a bid to investigate this phenomenal growth, PBN Founder Klaus Mitchell created Vegan 2019. This documentary takes a deep-dive into how and why plant-based diets are rising to prominence, and looking at some of the most significant vegan moments from the year.
For the first time, fast-food giants put plant-based meat centre-stage. Burger King launched its Impossible Whopper, and KFC trialled plant-based chicken in the US and UK.
UK stalwart Greggs saw its profits soar after launching its now-viral vegan sausage roll, and plant-based tech company Beyond Meat launched on the NASDAQ.
While these innovations in animal-free food garnered debate, top athletes were showing how it’s not only possible to survive on a vegan diet, but thrive.
Tennis ace and plant-based dieter Novak Djokovic show mental and physical prowess beating Roger Federer in a thrilling five-set Wimbledon final.
And the link between athleticism and a plant-based diet was set to be explored even further, with the release of highly-anticipated documentary The Game Changers.
2019 saw more people become aware of the dangers of animal agriculture. This threat was hammered home when news of Amazon Rainforest blazes swept across mainstream media.
Millions of people pinned their hopes of change on teenage vegan climate activist Greta Thunberg, who fearlessly gave speeches in front of world leaders, blasting them for stealing the future of young people.
Vegan 2019 features leading names in the world of entertainment, sports, and animal advocacy, whose stories weave together to create a thrilling tapestry of this vibrant movement.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A featuring special guests.
Proceeds from the screening will be used to cover the cost of the event and support the work of Plant Based News.
